Hi,
My name is Fidelis Chinagorom. It is my pleasure to welcome you personally to this page today. Your visit here is not by coincidence, I will tell you why in a bit.
First, this is iFeed Charity Network (iFCN), a non-governmental organisation in Nigeria. Nigeria is the largest populated country in Africa, ranked number 7 of the most populated countries of the world and 2.67%
of the total world population. Currently, in 2022, the nation is as populated at approximately 216 million. UN projection is that by 2050 and 2100, Nigeria should be 411 million and 794 million by population
respectively.
Do you know that out of this total population, over 44% are children aged between 0-14 years? That is about 95 million at the rate of one birth in every 4 seconds.
As the population increases, growth rate decreases at an estimate of 1.2% to 0.4% annually between 2010 -2050.
As of September 2021, 8.6 million children were out of school (UNESCO), 130,000 children were living with HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), 35000 children aged 7-14 years were forced into labour (UNICEF, World Bank), while over
2.9 million children suffer from acute malnutrition.
In terms of privilege and vulnerability, while the federal ministry for women affairs recorded the number of orphans and vulnerable children at 17.5 million, this figure however was dated as back as 2014/15.
Seven years after, at the rate of one birth per 4 seconds, there is high possibility of an increased number by 20-30% or more.
Aside HIV/AIDS and the loss of either one or both parents, there are so many other factors that remain strongholds for the proper upbringing of a poor Nigerian child. There are absolutely no street especially
major/busy roads in Nigeria where children are not found, begging for alms, hawking under sun and rain and others chasing after moving vehicles for whatever reason. At various times, new-born babies have been
found left and abandoned in bushes, gutters, and gates of charitable homes either as a result of unwanted pregnancies or lack of funds to raise the baby(s).
In Nigeria presently, many parents cannot afford to give their children QUALITY EDUCATION. Lots of kids suffer various deformities due to either lack of ADEQUATE MEDICAL CARE or FOOD INSECURITY.
Now you see, your visit to this page is not by accident
As you peruse through this site, you will see lots of programs we have, just for the wellbeing of the ordinary child, including our ‘CHILD SPONSORSHIP’ program. You can be part of us in any way.
We have over 700 active Volunteers nationwide currently willing and ready to get to any child in the 774 LGA of the country.
Over the last 5 years, we have successfully carried out our annual food bank program, ‘operation feed 50,000 children’ (OF50kC), through your help and support, but that’s not enough. As an individual, a company,
or an organisation, we need you. The children need us both.
IFCN was founded for these children. We are here to be the uncles, aunties, parents, and caregivers they lack. Join us, let us give them reasons to live and make the world around us a better and safer place.
Thank you so much
FIDELIS CHINAGOROM
President, iFCN.
